Cutting Ohio’s Library Fund by 30% plus …..

June 24, 2009

The State of Ohio, in grasping wherever they can to prop up their budget, is talking about cutting the Library Fund.

Ohio resident and bestselling SF writer John Scalzi has some good commentary about it  here.

Closer to where I live, the Cincinnati Public Library says the figure is 50%, but maybe that includes the previous twenty mentioned in Scalzi’s article.  They also estimate up to 20 branches closing, and 250+ employees let go.

Anyone living in Ohio should make their voices heard in this matter by contacting the Governor’s office, the committee members involved, and their state representatives.  I have.

If you’re in the Cincinnati area, all that info can be found here.

If you’re elsewhere, your Ohio Representative can be found here or your Senator here.
