Wyrm finally gets Tides from the New Worlds published …

April 17, 2009

Tobias Buckell’s limited edition short story collection, Tides from the New Worlds, has finally been published.

Along with numerous other people, I pre-ordered it over a year ago, with Wyrm Publishing pushing the publication date out month by month until now.  That’s not a good way to run a business.  This delay was out of Tobias’s hands and the object of my ire is entirely Wyrm Publishing.

I’m not celebrating having something finally delivered that was supposed to be done almost a  frigging year ago, but I am celebrating actually having the goods soon — assuming Wyrm gets the book into the mail in more-timely fashion.

I will be glad to have a Tobias Buckell work in my hand, and you should too.  Go spread the word and snag a copy if you can.

Ire received, accepted and deserved. I took on too much too soon with Wyrm and didn’t leave sufficient room in the schedule for all the problems that popped up with this and the three books before it. Lessons learned.

You have my apologies for the delay and I hope you enjoy the book.

Thanks, Neil. Ire abated a bit.

See folks, this is an excellent example of a business owner, in this case, Neil Clarke of Wyrm Publishing and Clarkesworld Magazine, stepping up and taking the heat from an aggravated customer. That simple act of responsibility does a lot to alleviate a customer’s irritation.

So – go buy some books at Wyrm Publishing. Go to Clarkesworld and read some good stuff and make a donation.
