The Nebulas 2007 and stuff…

May 15, 2007

Congratulations to the various winners at SFWA’s Nebula Awards, and especially Jack McDevitt, who I was rooting for, for his novel Seeker.

Justine Larbalestier got the Andre Norton Award, and though Paul Melko lost to James Patrick Kelly’s “Burn,” Paul did win the Asimov’s Readers Award for his novella, “The Walls of the Universe.” Much coolness for that. He also won the SFWA election for the Southern-Central Director position.

It was pointed out by a few people that McDevitt and Kelly sat at the same table at the banquet, and until they both won this past weekend, between them they were 0-21 in Nebula nominations. Ouch.

And, relating to some comments to the previous post, looks like the Angry Black Woman “crashed” the Con suite and nomination certificate ceremony to find some welcoming and reasonably intelligent people. Cool.

Some photos from Ellen Datlow, and some more official type photos from Keith Stokes.
